Could Be Right

The fantastically written lyrics are by my wonderful friend Matt Mackey. They are the chorus to my favorite song of his entitled “Could Be Right“.

For the visually impaired or the people to lazy to click on the image and see a large size version, the lyrics read:

Apathy is what’s left, when the common sense is gone. Irony is one last bullet in life’s smoking gun. Charity is blinking first so they can say, they have won. Hope for me is that I could be right when everyone else says I’m wrong.

The original size for this is about 3′ by 2′, and as you’re beginning to guess, I’m enjoying large prints these days. Prints upon request.

Update: This won the “best in show – graphic design” award at Liberty University’s 2008 Art & Design show.

Invisible Children

I created this poster for a competition put on by Invisible Children. They had a call for promotional posters that would be widely used, but the only qualifier is that it had to promote their cause. It didn’t have communicate anything verbally, but only had to communicate the heart of what they are doing, and their logo. I never heard or looked into who won (apparently it wasn’t me), but it was still a fun project.

I really love what IC is doing. They are going going to Gulu, Uganda with a bigger purpose than just food, water, clothing, and Christian tracts (bleh). They are meeting the needs of the people in ways that go far beyond what most would be willing to do. They’re not filling the needs they think the people should have, but the needs that are already in place. Jason, Bobby, and Landon have made a documentary of what they’re doing and why, but I warn you, if you watch it you will be moved.

The Spectrum

This really just started as an experiment with a fun color palette, but i think I was looking at a lot of ISO50 stuff at the time, so he was a subliminal source of inspiration. There’s really no point to it, but i’ve got a 2′ x 4′ print of it in my office and it looks pretty. I think a lot of times I enjoy designing when there’s no pressure to have a finished product, or it doesn’t need to look any certain way or communicate any designated feeling. I like it when it just has to be. That’s it.

This is just an experiment, but I'll post it anyways.
